Preservation

The Octagon House has never been restored or renovated. Suffering from decades of severe neglect and abuse, she was saved from ruin when purchased by the Orr family and donated to the newly established Octagon House Foundation. Lack of past renovations and updates has helped preserve many surviving original features of the home. While no element of the home is perfectly intact, enough remains that what is not original will be replicated to appear so. Original colors of paint, faux marbleizing, and graining will once again beautify the home’s interiors. The exterior will boast restored porches and trim. Artifacts recovered within the home and throughout the surrounding property will be cataloged and displayed for visitors to look upon relics of past lives at the Octagon House.
